LEARN TO SKATE FOR THE HOCKEY PLAYER
This is a fun program for children with little or no skating experience. The goal of this program is to have children gain confidence on the ice while developing their skating abilities. This is accomplished with the use of fun games and group skating drills. They will begin to learn proper skating stride, how to stop, and skate backwards. There is no age limit, although the majority of skaters range in age from 3 & up. Equipment Required: HEC-Approved helmet and face shield. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Winter Session (12 weeks):
January 11th – March 29th Sundays @ 9:30am – 11:00am

LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY
LIMITED to ONLY 24 players! This is a fun program that allows your child to begin skating drills using a stick and puck and is a progression up from our Learn to Skate program. There will also be parts of some sessions devoted to playing a cross-ice hockey game amongst each other in preparation for the Portland Junior Pirates Cross-Ice Hockey Development Program (see below). Players must be fully outfitted in hockey equipment and will be supplied with a Little Crackers hockey jersey which must be worn each week for entrance onto the ice surface.

CROSS – ICE HOCKEY & SKILLS
LIMITED TO ONLY 24 PLAYERS! This program is designed to accommodate ages 4-9 by modifying their playing environment and allowing our coaches to more effectively teach them the game of hockey. Players are allowed to play for more than one organization while participating in this program and can use this program as an additional supplement if they are currently registered with another organization. We will create 2 teams of 12 players on each team. Each session will include a 30-minute skills component (skating and puck skills), as well as, a 30-minute cross-ice component, where NO referees will be required. All players will be required to play goalie atleast one time…we will supply the goalie equipment!
